Party weekend

Friday, December 11th, 2009

Yesss, my best friend Robbert is here so it’s gonna be a guys weekend! He he, not a lotta sleep I guess, since we’ll mostly be out in Oslo. Obviously Mario Kart on the Wii will take a great deal of our time too! 😉

Barack Obama in Oslo

Thursday, December 10th, 2009

It is quite a special day for Norway; the president of the U.S.A. is visiting Oslo.

The reason for his visit is of course to collect the Nobel Peace price that was awarded to him…a lot has been said about it already and I believe there will come much more. I decide to stay quiet for now and leave it as it is.

The ones who know me, also know my opinion about this event, and Obama as president in general (I will say just one thing; follow the money…!)

Anyway I’ve had my share of fun this morning in 2 hours traffic jam, caused by the closure of the highway because of this visit…:(

Another Julebord

Wednesday, December 9th, 2009

As explained before, the traditional Xmas dinner/party at work is called Julebord which I already had some weeks ago. Tonight however I will have another Julebord, this time with a group of around 20 friends.

The overall idea is the same (have a good time while eating delicious food in the Xmas month), but I’m sure it will have a slightly different feeling to it compared to the traditional Julebord with work (so, no ‘mandatory’ speeches, not too much focus on the drinking as such and therefore no ‘fyllangst‘ ;)).

Marilyn Manson concert

Monday, December 7th, 2009

Finally, finally the timing is right and I will be able to see Marilyn Manson live on stage again! It has been some years ago (pfeww, exactly 4,5 years!) so I am delighted to go…he he, I expect all the Beautiful People there to rock the venue, the Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam.

(Shock)-ROCK ON!!

Sinterklaas gifts

Sunday, December 6th, 2009

The Sinterklaas event yesterday was quite a success: as you can see on the picture below, the old man brought a shitload of presents! 😉

It was great to see my parents, bro and sis with their kids. My nephews liked their presents, he he I guess they love the Sinterklaas tradition too! 😉 The others had fun with the rhymes and gifts, which kept us busy nearly entire evening…good times!

Sinterklaas in NL

Saturday, December 5th, 2009

Great timing to be in NL today, just in time  for Sinterklaas, the dutch family tradition that was the initial model for Santa Claus type of Xmas celebration elsewhere…so indeed, that means shitloads of presents! The special thing is that most of the presents are WITH a rhyme…fun to make, fun to read!

Pohoda 2010 news

Friday, December 4th, 2009

pohodafestival.sk: Bažant Pohoda Festival 2010 will take place one week earlier than in the previous years – on the second weekend of July. The venue remains the same – the Trenčín airfield. This date change is due to a Pilgrimage near Trenčín on  July 17 every year…The 14th annual Bažant Pohoda Festival will kick off July 8, 2010 and will run to July 10, 2010.

No matter what, you can be sure that I will go, together with Robbert…ha, we didn’t miss a year since 2005!

Ticket sales for early birds starts coming Monday and for the first time the organization put a  limitation on capacity (around 30.000 tickets)…I assume the lather is due to this years disaster and panic.

Lost Season 5

Wednesday, December 2nd, 2009

Yeah, it’s that time of the year: it’s time to get ‘Lost’. The TV series has reached Season 5 and watching it from DVD (or did I find it on the Net? ;)) is a perfect way to spend the long dark December evenings. As ‘usual’ it’s hard to stop watching as all episodes are available ‘under the button’ so that means short nights. Oh well, there are only 6 episodes left to watch, the end is coming close (and, ’24’ Season 7 is next haha)!

Ready for winter

Tuesday, December 1st, 2009

Winter has arrived!

The picture below says it all; it’s the first time I see the garden ‘packed’ in a whopping 10cm layer of snow!

Also, on the way home today I saw that the ski slope close by the house is open, the Oslo-ring has its half yearly 60kph speeding limit *and* the bimmer got a brand new set of winter tires (as the old set turned out to be TOO old and unsafe)…

Yeah, winter has arrived and I-am-ready for it!!
