Left Pohoda for the World Cup final

Sunday, July 11th, 2010

So, we left the Pohoda festival around 1:15h early this night and drove back to watch *the* final of the decade in NL…a great decision, the atmosphere is AMAZING!! Literally the whole country is orange, the picture below was taken from the balcony with a lookout over the Marktplein in Rotterdam where close to 20,000 people are watching the game on a big screen!
OK, we’re ready to play to game of our life now!!

We *love* sun!

Saturday, July 10th, 2010

Weather at Pohoda had generally been splendid over the past years and this year is no exception; it’s 37C at the moment and everyone is seeking shade and/or freshness from cool water being sprayed in the audience by fireman! (didn’t we all want to be a fireman when we were young? πŸ˜‰ ).
Today’s bands to see are Para (just did that), Casiokids (from Norway!!), New Young Pony Club, Scissor Sisters, These New Puritans, The xx and Does It Offend You, Yeah? Pohoda 2010 is again fantastic!! There’s only one thing keeping us busy; should we stay or should we go? It’s obviously related to tomorrow’s World Cup final NL-Spain; there no better place to watch THE game than in NL, but that means that we have to leave halfway the last party night…decisions, decisions…

Sunny sweaty wake-up

Friday, July 9th, 2010

A typical first day wake-up this morning at Pohoda; bathing in sweat caused by a killing combination of 25C and sun around 08:30h, oof! πŸ˜‰ A bit too early after just a few hours of sleep, I am still tired from the 1400km trip yesterday (or is that from the mix of beer, absinthe, vodka, and the Stranglers in concert? πŸ˜‰ )
Oh well, I’m pretty sure that we’ll survive today; relaxing in 34C with The Futureheads, Klaxons and Polar Bear on stage…no worries!

Pohoda 2010, here we come!!

Thursday, July 8th, 2010

5:30am…yeah, it’s about time for Robbert and me to leave!! (aahhhh, I really don’t like early wake-up calls! ;) )

Keep an eye on the Twitter box on the right-hand side for short updates of our roadtrip to the Pohoda festival in Slovakia!

Prepared and ready for fun

Wednesday, July 7th, 2010

It was a crazy day at work today, it felt as if I would be gone for *weeks* when I left the office, so many last minute things popping up, crazy!! For some reason it’s often like this when I take some days off…anyway, I managed and am TOTALLY READY for five days of fun, sun, music, cheap beer and great people at Pohoda, THE festival of the year! ROCK ONNNN!!!

The final!!

Tuesday, July 6th, 2010

Wow…great…splendid…terrific…super…whatever!! πŸ˜‰ NL defeated Uruguay 3-2 in the semi-final and reached the World Cup FINALLLLL!!! Hehe, as I said yesterday, you can’t avoid karma! πŸ˜‰
I happen to be in NL at the moment, so I’m able to PARTYYYYYYY with my fellow cheeseheads, w00t!! πŸ˜‰

Getting in the mood

Monday, July 5th, 2010

It’s hard to miss the fact that The Netherlands will play Uruguay in the World Cup semi-final tomorrow, and even though the game still has to be played, most people believe that reaching the final is *easy* for the orange lions! Well, let’s at least start the match with the right attitude, so, just to get in the right mood below a YouTube clip with the highlights of the 1974 World Cup match between The Netherlands and Uruguay, a 2-0 victory for NL! πŸ˜‰

An interesting fact; in the same 1974 tournament, NL beat Brazil for the first and last time in a World Cup match (that is until last Friday!) so karma is good! πŸ˜‰

Trysil 2010 reunion BBQ

Sunday, July 4th, 2010

With temperatures around 25dgr and sun high in the sky, skiing and fun in the snow seemed far away…not today though; we met most of the Trysil 2010 gang for an after-ski party / reunion BBQ…it was great to see y’all again, good times!!

QOTD July 3 2010

Oprah Winfrey: “It is confidence in our bodies, minds and spirits that allows us to keep looking for new adventures, new directions to grow in, and new lessons to learn – which is what life is all about.”

WHAT a game!!

Friday, July 2nd, 2010

NL- Brazil was ‘just’ the quarterfinal in the Worldcup, but the 2-1 victory felt like winning the final…HISTORICAL!!

Uruguay is next (after they took out the last African team in competition, Ghana). For sure not an opponent to think lightly of, but I’d say: doable! πŸ˜‰

Pictures from South Norway

We came back after a FABULOUS week of sun bathing, sailing and relaxing (actually all similar things πŸ˜‰ )!!

Below some pictures, since already one picture says more than a thousand words!
