Breda Live 2016

Saturday, July 9th, 2016

Wow, it has been 4 years already since I last went to Breda Live! Then it was the day after Adam Curry’s bachelor party before his marriage to Micky Hoogendijk…the times they are changing……nevertheless, good to be back here!

Great to see some of the finest Dutch bands on stage, a mixture of pop, rock and dance with Sunday Sun (just missed them actually 😉 ), BLØF, Typhoon, Kensington and Fedde Le Grand!

It’s gonna be gooooddddd!!! Whoop whoop! 🙂

QOTD June 28 2016 – a day late

Wednesday, June 29th, 2016

Benjamin Disraeli: “Great services are not canceled by one act or by one single error.”

No, no, there is no mistake in the dates, though June 28 was indeed yesterday. 🙂

This quote is actually quite relevant for the services from GoDaddy, my hosting provider. This blog (actually the whole domain, AND the other domains I have with them, AND all related hosting services!!) only just came back online after being down since yesterday late afternoon! It took GoDaddy a good 24 hours to get services restored, and still I see ping timeouts.

Being in the services industry myself, I know things can (and often will) go wrong, and one can standout by the way issues are dealt with. Well, GoDaddy did bad, very bad in that respect. I called them today as their status page showed all services up and it took the guy on the phone quite some time (and persistence from my end) to realise and confirm that indeed some of their servers experienced problems……sorry GoDaddy, not good enough, I will be looking for another hosting provider. The sole reason I ended up here was because Adam Curry provided interesting promo codes in his Daily Source Code (that was back in the PodShow days, aaaaages ago!)…time to move on! 🙂

Parkfeest 2016

Friday, May 27th, 2016

My traditional opening of the summer festival season starts tonight! Yessss, the Parkfeest in Oosterhout is here again! 🙂

It starts, as usual, with ‘coverband night’: performances of Muset, Ziggi Floyd, The COPS, Kings of Lyon and JUST PINK. Mainstagers tomorrow are Chef’Special, Ali B and UB40!

Unlike other years, the weather lacks the traditional wind and rain (thank you global climate change LoL), which is nice for a change, crossing fingers it is going to stay this way! 🙂

Now the fun with friends starts; let the booze flow and the music make us dance! Woohoooo! 🙂

Gratulerer med dagen Norge!

Tuesday, May 17th, 2016

Today Norway celebrates its Constitution (May 17, ‘syttende mai’), so GRATULERER MED DAGEN Norge (Congratulations Norway)!!

Weather is sunny and calm, a LOT better than last years wind, rain and +4C (brrr!)…the outdoor party will be good! 🙂

We’re dressed up for brunch, and are then on to participate in the traditional ‘barnetoget’ (Childrens’ Parade) with Misha and his kindergarten friends in the village centre! Everyone will be celebrating and waving flags, Hurra for Norge!! 🙂

The Master Healer ;)

Saturday, April 23rd, 2016

Today is ‘the’ day of the year where one day is making me a whole year older
aahhh it’s my Birthdayayayay! 🙂

I am turning 44 which apparently means I am The Master Healer…uhhhh=! 🙂

Oh well, age is just a number anyway (haha, an expression that is mostly used by ‘older’ people 🙂 ), and I continue to every minute of Now!

Happy Easter!

Sunday, March 27th, 2016

Happy Easter y’all!! 🙂

Lianne’s 45th! :)

Happy 2016!!

Friday, January 1st, 2016

Happy New Year y’all!

2016 will be another year filled with opportunities for us all, and it is up to each and everyone of us to recognise and take them! 🙂

I am no guy for New Years resolutions so you won’t find them here. 🙂 I believe more in New Day resolutions and every day is a new opportunity for that
after all, January 1 is ‘just’ another New Day, eh? Especially when you consider that half the world population (China and traditionally in India) celebrate New Year on a different date!

Turning the page of time

Thursday, December 31st, 2015

Today is that unique and special day in the year when one day makes a whole year difference; we turn the imaginary page of time tonight and after celebrating it we wake up in a brand New Year. By then, page 2015 of the ‘book of life and the world’ has been completely written, and we have stored all experiences of the past year in it.

The year of 2015 has been a year which continued where 2014 left it; my first whole year running my own company, a busy year without any vacation (had some nice weekend trips though), Misha turned four and started kindergarten/pre-school *also* in NL, the big little angel is getting completely bi-langual (and a Silver member for KLM Flying Dutch ha! 🙂 ), I electrified my mobility from LEAF to Tesla and enjoyed some very nice (dance) events to remember
all in all been a splendid year which included, as always, the continuous process of letting go of past and getting to know the present and future possibilities
highs and lows are all balanced in the end.

It is good to know that all the 2015 experiences are stored in a safe place; in my heart and my memory
I can look back, laugh, cry, read, learn, and all of that without any regrets!

Writing things down and then turning the page of time also means that things can be put to rest
it is a good moment to go on and look forward towards everything that future offers and say: “2016 here I am!!”

it is o-so relative
I wish everyone a splendid life in the Now, filling each moment with unconditional love, share it and pass it on

Zalig Kerstfeest / God Jul / Merry Christmas

Merry Xmas everrrrybodyyy!! Ho Ho Hooooo! 🙂

I wish all you angels out there Warmth, Light and most of all LOVE!

Moose on the road!!

Sunday, October 18th, 2015

A first time for me, this afternoon, *very* close to home…ELG pĂ„ veien!! (or MOOSE (North America) / ELK (EurAsia) on the road!! 🙂 )

These pictures are taken right where I exit the ‘main road’ for the small sand road at which I live, pretty pretty close to home!

Ha, this also shows that while I normally answer ‘Oslo’ when non-Norwegians ask me where in Norway I live, I do live *outside* of Oslo! 🙂

Misha 4!!

Tuesday, September 29th, 2015

Misha turns 4 today…Hip Hip Hoorayyyyy!!! 🙂

Happy Birthday sweet angel, I LOVE you! <3

Rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit

Saturday, August 1st, 2015

It is the first day of a new month, August 1 2015 and I started my day by saying ‘rabbit, rabbit, white rabbit‘!? It apparently means that I will receive good luck for the whole month, yayyy! Call me superstitious but hey, who would not want good luck for a month! 🙂

All day, all night…WTF!

Wednesday, July 8th, 2015

It is quite late on an ordinary Wednesday night to be still in the office…the reason is a typical one; we are working our asses off to finalize a tender response with a deadline of tomorrow.

Ha, insomnia is the key, though not so easy after already a very short night yesterday (plus, working for 40 hours straight last week has not helped my overall fit-tired balance). I am not complaining though; I am the lucky one delivering the offer to the customer in Copenhagen tomorrow so I get a chance to see the lovely Little Mermaid woohoo! 🙂

For now, the ‘all day
all night’ song keeps me awake and sharp: this is Sak Noel with Loca People
so WTF y’all and Njoy!! 🙂

Norway in a Nutshell

Saturday, June 27th, 2015

Spontaneous ideas are the best, and this one will be no exception 🙂 and it is called Norway in a Nutshell! Booked only yesterday afternoon, is a trip through some of Norway’s most beautiful fjord scenery! Obviously the idea started off with the Tesla needing a road trip 🙂 and from one thing came another. Two days to experience the scenic Bergen Railway, the breathtaking FlĂ„m Railway, the Aurlandsfjord, the narrow NĂŠrĂžyfjord and the steep hairpin bends of Stalheimskleiva, and…the weather is fantastic!!

Looking forward woohooooo!!

Byebye LEAF, hellooo Model S! :)

Wednesday, June 24th, 2015

After nearly 3,5 years of ‘electrifying your car‘, that game is changing, BIG time: byebye Nissan LEAF, hellooo Tesla Model S!! Woohoo! 🙂

My LEAF experience has been amazing, it is a fantastic drive with really only one downside; the range. The advertised 175km seems reacheable only on a warm summer day while driving a whopping 20km/h 🙂 , the actual range is more like 125-140km in summertime and about 80-100km in wintertime (both heavily depending on the use of the climate control)…not enough for me.

The Tesla Model S is really a BIG step up, a game changer in the car industry (car 2.0), a change of the concept of owning/driving a car! Besides the looks (great design), many elements in the car are software based which makes it possibly (&easy) to upgrade the car with a software update; a nice example is the recent update giving the owners more horsepower to play with (!)…it is like owning a whole new car overnight! 🙂

The first kilometers have been truly amazing and something tells me that this car will not stop to amaze me…so, to be continued! 🙂

Happy Birthday Mom!

Monday, June 15th, 2015

My mom turns 66 today (you wouldn’t say! 🙂 ), which we (pre-)celebrated yesterday with the whole family. Living abroad makes it even more valuable to be there in person and commemorate this special day (after all, I wouldn’t be here if it wasn’t for my mother (and father 🙂 ), especially when everyone is present!

It was great to see Bro and Sis again, and as always, heaps of fun seeing Misha and his nephews and niece challenging each other (in a nice way 🙂 ) and playing around the house (run until you drop, no one dropped! 🙂 )!

All in all a very nice prelude to a Happy Birthday Mom!

Bicycle country the opposite way

Friday, June 12th, 2015

I am in bicycle country 🙂 this weekend and found this YouTube video therefore somewhat appropriate. Somewhat, because this is bicycling the opposite way, messing with your brain and actually a pretty interesting experiment!

Unfortunately it is not easy to try this at home, I would love to give it a go and experience the brain twist myself! 🙂

Welcome to Apple’s future?!

Tuesday, June 9th, 2015

I could not resist and watched the live-stream (via my Apple TV 🙂 ) of Tim Cook’s keynote speech yesterday, opening the Apple WWDC (World Wide Developer Conference), even though the first signs are very apparent that the Apple keynote speech myth is on its decline (clearly marked from when Steve Jobs passed and Tim Cook took over)…it is just not the same, will probably never be the same anymore and yesterday showed this all too well, unfortunately.

Yes, there were some interesting (/good, not great, and mostly known) announcements, yes, Apple still has its momentum, but mannnnn, it went on waayyyyy too long! The keynote has always been a Sales show-off, but this one seemed to take a questionable TellSell route… 🙁

Hope the future will be better, and some of the old magic returns!

Anyway, to lighten up this post, have a look at the YouTube video below, a fantastic keynote speech parody/commercial! ROTFLMAO!! 🙂

Double Tits

Sunday, June 7th, 2015

For years now I have had the pleasure of a nest filled with young Tits, around May/June. It is only two years ago that I found out that these are not Great Tits, but Blue Tits and to see the process of them building up the nest for weeks and nourishing their newly borns now, really is nature at its best!

Especially on a sunny day as today, it has been magnificent to watch both parents fly in and out with small pieces of food for their kids. This year also had a Blue Tit premiere; the second bird house has also been used for its original purpose (unlike last year when it served as a wasp nest!!). Those Blue Tits made the leap into the big wide world a week ago when I was in NL, so I am closely monitoring the second bird house…I really want to see the little ones fly out this year!!
