workers, managers and the board of directors

Wednesday, August 30th, 2006

You've got workers, who cut trees
You've got managers, who take care that the axes are sharp
And you've got the board of directors, who make sure you're in the right forest

Alternatively;

You've got workers, who work with the tools they are given and produce what can be processed with it
You've got managers, who have long discussions if takes an axe or a chainsaw to get the job done
And you've got the board of directors, who only want to harvest all trees and have no clue how this is done in practice

Pictures from Italy…to come

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

Am back for almost a week now (feels like a month already though :)), but; no worries…pictures from Italy *will* come, first have to make it through this week, filled with wedding preps.

Riddle of the day

Tuesday, August 29th, 2006

"I never was, am always to be. No one ever saw me, nor ever will. And yet I am the confidence of all, To live and breathe on this terrestrial ball. What am I?"

Put the answer in the comments or send me a mail, I'll post the answer to the question later this week!

We arrived home safe this morning after driving a sweet 1500kms through the night…got some sleep by now and are unpacking the car. Amazing how much stuff we managed to take back with us!

Update from Macerata, Italia

Saturday, August 12th, 2006

A very short update for those who stayed home in rainy and cold Netherlands;

En Italia tutto e bella! Had a great time in Campomarino and we're enjoying the beauty of the province of Marche at the moment. Weather could have been a little bit better…it has been rainy the last days, but hey…it's holiday, so we keep relaxing!!!

We're outta here…Italy, here we come!!! 'Just' an 1800km, 2 days,  drive to Campomarino…uhh, where?? Find it on Google Maps! 🙂

Dale Carnegie: "all of us tend to put off living. We are all dreaming of some magical rose garden over the horizon – instead of enjoying the roses that are blooming outside our windows today."

New header graphic

Thursday, August 3rd, 2006

It’s about time for a new header graphic, eh?

This picture was taken last weekend at the ‘Reeuwijkse Plassen’ (lakes), where we went sailing for Robbert’s bachelor party!

Busy week

Tuesday, August 1st, 2006

It's my last week at work before a well deserved holiday (in my own judgement :))…traditionally a busy week. For one reason or another all things come together at once and need direct attention. 🙁

Spare time is filled with preparations for the holiday since we'll go camping, sssoooo looking forward to doin' nothing on a sunny Italian beach!

Despite the crazy days at work I took a day off tomorrow to 'do' the frontyard…weather is promising; showers with thunderstorms and a small chance for hail…AAAHHHHHH!! Temperatures will be good though, 17-19 degrees (yeah, the heathwave finally came to an end!!)

Woodrow Wilson: "You are not here merely to make a living. You are here to enable the world to live more amply, with greater vision, and with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to enrich the world. You impoverish yourself if you forget this errand."
