Hmm, winter is long long gone, summer officially started two days ago, today is Sankthansaften (Midsummer) and my blog still showed a beautiful winter wonderland photo…huh?! About time to replace it by something more appropriate for the season!

Seasons change the way nature presents itself to us, and so the Lysdammen lake turned from the awesome winter wonderland landscape to a lovely ‘green-trees-around-a-lake-on-a-warm-summer-day’ place I love to be. Both are beautiful in their own way, yet for now I’d say; sun, don’t hold back and take your reserved spot, you’re more than welcome and please stay for a few months! 🙂

The magic white stuff has finally fallen, at least some of it; I do expect a LOT more in the coming weeks, but am very happy that Xmas will be white! 🙂 )

Now that the world around me turned from green to white, the Lysdammen lake ‘autumn-style’ header graphic needs go, residing happily in the header graphic hall of fame (aka. archive). Winter wonderland is here, and here to stay…for months to come, yay! 🙂

This picture was taken at the back side of the Lysdammen lake, less than a 5 minute walk from home, a beautiful piece of nature! In order to fit the header graphic width&height, I had to cut some of the magic of the original photo and in order to compensate for that compromise (me not like), I included the original photo at the bottom of this blogpost…ain’t it BE-AU-TI-FUL here? 🙂

And here is the original photo:

Summer is long over, or at least it feels that way; temperatures are dropping below zero at night though as it is rain pouring down instead of the magic white stuff called snow, this must still be autumn! 🙂 The fantastic sunset header graphic that accompanied a fantastic summer in Norway will be nothing more than a fading memory soon…

I am blessed with lovely nature around me, the Lysdammen lake is less than 5 minutes away and is besides a nice starter for a hike, also a great place to take pictures. One that I took last year (promoted to header graphic) was nice, though I like this years picture a lot better!! (he he, I am such a sucker for ‘mirroring lakes’ 🙂 )

Well, well, the FIFA World Cup Brazil has been done, NL finished 3rd which was way better than expected while a feeling remains that it could even have been more. In any way, the Dutch orange flags header graphic has to go…

…and since it is summer time in Norway, with amazing warm (hot!) sunny days and superb sunsets, my new header graphic is matching just that; a fantastic sunset! The photo is a tad old though as I took it in Curacao last year January, but nevertheless, here’s to summer, cheers! 🙂

The long winter nights are replaced by even longer sunny summer days, and even though the Northern Light is hard to beat, it does require the sky to be dark in order to see it. In other words; the winterish magical Northern Lights header graphic has to go…

…and will be replaced by one supporting the dutch soccer team in pursuit of eternal fame during the FIFA World Cup Brazil. The first match for the Dutch Lions (against Spain) starts in about half an hour and the header graphic will be up for as long as ‘we’ are competing in the tournament! (which is July 13 according to optimists 🙂 )

Though part of my heart is still in Peru&Bolivia, I experienced yet another ‘bucket list’ highlight in my life last weekend: the magical Northern Lights in Lofoten!

As there is only room for one header graphic on my blog, the header graphic of the amazing Lost City of Machu Picchu is replaced by one of the many photos I took of the spectacular Aurora Borealis / Northern Lights!

He he, the ‘disadvantage’ of seeing the Northern Lights so sky-wide (the aurora appeared as a “corona”) is that it is hard to find a photo that can serve as a header graphic (one that is wide enough and does not have too much of the goodies in the picture’s height)…oh well, there are harder things to swallow!! LoL 🙂

In one word: MAGICAL!!

Pretty amazing that the beauty of Peru&Bolivia didn’t make it as a header graphic so far, I guess I have been busy doing other stuff. 😉

Anyway, it is time for the hot summer header graphic of the Lidnesnes Lighthouse from end of July to go and be replaced by one of the many highlights of my trip to South America!

I normally try to match the header graphic to the season, which ain’t all that easy as it was late winter/early spring in South America while it is mid autumn over here. So, instead of colourful autumn leaves, this one shows the Lost City of Machu Picchu…fan-friggin-tastic!!!

GOOD times! 😉

I took loads of magnificent pictures during last weeks roadtrip to the South of Norway so the blue skies and green trees header graphic from end of May will have to go…the replacement is worth it though! 😉

The picture below shows the Lidnesnes Lighthouse on the southernmost tip of mainland Norway, stunning views as you can see!

Btw. I used the panorama feature on my iPhone and edited the image a little to obtain the image scale I need (830×315)…

Although I am a big fan of Norway, the Norway celebrates its Constitution on May 17 (‘syttende mai‘) header graphic can go for one that matches the season! 😉

I took this picture last week in NL; blue skies and green trees, I love that! Pretty much what I see in Norway too, though blue skies are filled with thunderstorm clouds the past two evenings (just for an hour though). 😉

For those who pay attention to details; I also changed the layout of my site. It is slightly wider so the header graphic matches the default Cover image width that Facebook uses (no chance of winning that battle and I got tired of resizing one the two images and loosing part of content 😉 ).

Let me know if the wider page causes a problem for you, I might not fix it he he…

Now that the snow is all gone, it is time to change the previous winter wonderland cross country crossroad header graphic for one that better suits the time of year.

Norway will celebrate its Constitution in four days, on May 17 (‘syttende mai‘); everyone will be out, dressed up, waving flags and getting drunk! 😉 It is expected to be wet all day unfortunately, oh well, still four days to go and weather predictions are exactly what they are…predictions! Hmm, I will do my infamous sun dance just in case! 😉

Even though winter has not ended yet, there is a change in the winter weather compared to the past months; *much* more sun (yay!) so I feel it is time to change the old, kinda dark winter header graphic for a new one, a panorama picture I took this afternoon during a lovely ski trip in the sun!

It is also somewhat symbolic picture as I am on a crossroad in life…and, as you can see, I have pointed my skis in the track heading for the sun! 😉

It is really great to be able to put on my skis and go for a cross country ski trip in my ‘backyard’ and as the sun is expected to be here for another week, I am sure I will conquer the cold (-10C) and go for some more trips this week!

Winter has officially arrived some days ago (indeed, that happened on ‘the’ day 😉 ), so the autumn header graphic can be changed for a one better fitting the season or actually, fitting color of the world outside!

The dark days before Xmas are balanced with white stuff coming from above, not so much in one go, but the pack is growing cm by cm (around 50cm right now)!

It is almost Xmas (it is actually Little Christmas Eve in Norway today) so…Let it snow, let is snow, let it snow! 😉

Despite my love for sun, the summer header graphic has to go now that autumn is well on its way; last Mondays first snow of the season has almost melted, rain is falling, days are shortening, yeah it is autumn! That said, autumn also has its beauty as you can see below.

I have not been in Norway most of the Novembers in the past five years (as said, I love sun! 😉 ), and I am curious to find out if I indeed ran from Norway to vacation sun for a good reason… 😉

Now that spring has arrived and snow is melting like crazy, it is time to change the ‘ice crystals’ header graphic for a more appropriate picture, matching the time of year.

So, girls, you can dust off and wear your favorite skirts, everyone put on your sunglasses and enjoy the vitamin D…let’s agree that sunny days are here to stay!! 😉

Friday, January 27th, 2012

Winter is slowly getting there where one would expect it to be (for Norway at least): after a false start having the first snow falling only in December instead of October/November (and then disappearing completely before Xmas!!), there was ‘some’ snow early January and a little bit more last weekend.

But, that will all change as the weather forecast predicts a snowy weekend and temperatures going from -2C tomorrow to -20C (!) by the end of this week…bbrrrrrrr!! 😉

A good time to change the blog header graphic from the foggy autumn picture, to these *beautiful* ice crystals…HA, let it freeze, let it freeze, let it freeze! 😉

Sunday, November 20th, 2011

We are almost out of ‘beschuit met muisjes‘!! Indeed, we have had a *lot* of visitors who emptied the 8 (!) packages with ‘muisjes’ that my parents brought with them, haha! 😉

…time for the ‘beschuit met muisjes‘ header graphic to be changed for something else, ah?

Since it is autumn, and since it is more foggy than snowy (to everyone’s surprise!), I found the perfect header graphic to reflect this moment: the picture was taken yesterday at Romtjern, a lake close to Hagan where we used to live…beautiful, ah?

The vacation in Corsica has been a while ago, and summer is coming to an end…time to change the header graphic from the Corsican winefields to something matching the current period…

What you see here are ‘beschuit met muisjes‘, a typical dutch tradition that is served when you visit a new born! (blue for boys, and pink for girls 😉 )!

Corsica gives a LOT of opportunities for great pictures, and since I am not in ‘tulip’-country at the moment, it is time to change the header graphic to one more appropriate for the location and time of year, don’t ya think?

So, the ‘spring tulips’ header graphic is out, and the Corsican winefields are IN! 😉

Sunday, April 10th, 2011

Now that the veranda season has opened, and weather is truly doing its best to make us forget the snow and ice, it’s time to change the ‘ice crystals’ header graphic for one that fits the spring season somewhat better.

See here; tulips definitely reflect the spring mood, don’t you think? 😉

Friday, February 4th, 2011

I thought it would be nice to match the winter wonderland outside with my blog-header, so even though I really enjoyed the autumn composition that has been the header graphic for three months it is time for something new!

And boy, do I *love* the ice crystals in this one…I took the picture while hiking through the forest ‘in the backyard’!
