Turning the page of time

Wednesday, December 31st, 2008

Today is that one day in a year when we turn the imaginary page of time…page 2008 in the ‘book of life and the world’ has almost been written, all experiences of the past year are in it.

Good to know that they are stored in a safe place, our memories…one can always look back, read and learn.

Writing things down and then turning the page mainly means that things can be put to rest…it’s time to go on and look to the future, something which comes automatically if you start to live your life now, in the present…

No car, instead a movie

Tuesday, December 30th, 2008

The car hunt was not successful today, at least, there was no car sold. 😉 …pictures on the internet are sometimes not even close to the real thing!!

So, the car hunt continues!

We (or actually Santa Claus 😉 ) took Robbert & Suzanne to the movie ‘Australia‘. There’s a lot to say about the movie, positive or negative, but I liked it a lot! (well, I love the Land Downunder a lot too, so that might help)…anyway, go and see it!

Friends and a car

Monday, December 29th, 2008

Our best friends from NL, Robbert & Suzanne, arrived today…they’re staying until Saturday, it’s great to end the Old and start the New Year with friends! We used this afternoon for catching up…tomorrow will be all about, uhh, buying a new car! 😉

Man-made global warming disproved

Sunday, December 28th, 2008

Telegraph.co.uk: “Easily one of the most important stories of 2008 has been all the evidence suggesting that this may be looked back on as the year when there was a turning point in the great worldwide panic over man-made global warming. Just when politicians in Europe and America have been adopting the most costly and damaging measures politicians have ever proposed, to combat this supposed menace, the tide has turned in three significant respects.”

Interesting article that deserves more attention, especially since it is one of the few of its kind that made it through the mainstream media filters (or, was ‘allowed’)…so, share it too!

(thx Adam Curry for pointing me to the article, unfortunately I missed the Live edition of the Daily Source Code today)

Xmas food

Friday, December 26th, 2008

This Christmas seems to be, more than ever, all about food; it started a true traditional Norwegian Christmas Eve dinner, following by a superb Christmas brunch on first Christmas Day (also traditional Norwegian), seemlessly followed by a huge and delicious Christmas dinner for two last night…

Today it’s second Christmas Day and we got invited for yet another Christmas brunch! It’s supposed to be quite a big one, and international; around 22 people including Vikings, Bradwurst lovers, Cheeseheads, and some more…

Oh, incase you wonder if this was enough eating; tomorrow we’ll have six dutch/norwegian friends over for a third Christmas Day dinner at our place…jeez, I’m gonna look like a stuffed turkey! 😉

God Jul / Merry Christmas!!!

Thursday, December 25th, 2008

Ho, hoo, hoooo…Merry Xmas / Zalig Kerstfeest / God Jul everybody!!!

Julaften

Wednesday, December 24th, 2008

We’ve been invited by friends to celebrate a traditional norwegian Julaften (Christmas Eve). As mentioned yesterday; today is THE Christmas day for Norway, it’s bigger than 1st Christmas Day, which traditionally is THE day for the dutch, and I guess the rest of the (Christian) world.

It feels great to take part in these ‘new’ traditions, afterall, Norway really feels like home now!

Xmas Holidays

Tuesday, December 23rd, 2008

Yaayyyyy! I just came home and will have 1.5 week Xmas Holidays!!! So, CYA January 5th, dearly beloved colleagues! 😉

The days off THIS week are obvious, having the holy days on Thursday and Friday plus the fact that Wednesday is ‘Julaften’/Christmas Eve, which is actually a bigger day in Norway for Xmas celebrations than first Christmas Day…?!?

I took next week off since Robbert and Suzanne are coming over Monday-Saturday for a spectacular New Years party at Willy & Katka’s place!

Xmas tunes

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

I’ve been Mr. Xmas-DJ in the office today; I played a collection of all-time greatest Xmas tunes for my colleagues!

I found the perfect mix via my iTunes music library, the Sky-Radio live-webstream (every year this dutch radiostation turns into ‘THE’ Christmas station of NL), and all of that nicely mixed with tunes found via my favorite tunes search-site; seeqpod.com!

Santa says ho-ho-hooo! 😉

Everyday a Global orgasm Day? ;)

Monday, December 22nd, 2008

Damn, I missed the ‘official’ Global orgasm Day yesterday…well, my motto; make everyday a GoD…!! 😉

Indoor training

Saturday, December 20th, 2008

I’ve spent most of today in a huge shopping center doing X-mas shopping. Heaps of fun (if it’s not lasting a FULL day ;)) and you run into all sorts of things…an elliptical trainer for instance. A tiny little bit too big to fit under the X-mas tree, but since it was 30% off and something Kissy wanted to have for a long while, so…we bought it!

I can’t avoid doing some serious indoor training now, can I? 😉

The Real-time Dot

Friday, December 19th, 2008

Highly fascinating; the Real-time Dot from the Global Consciousness Project. I’m still figuring it out, one thing is clear; if this Dot turns red, we’re screwed! 😉

AC/DC – I’m in!

Wednesday, December 17th, 2008

My ears are still ringing from the Motörhead concert last Sunday and yet, I couldn’t resist:

I GOT TICKETS FOR THE AC/DC CONCERT IN OSLO THIS SUMMER!! 😉

On the lookout for a new car

Tuesday, December 16th, 2008

It’s time for the next step into Vikingization (my integration into Norway, I’m half-way, at LEAST! ;))

I’m in the market to buy a true ‘norwegian’ car (at least, one that is registered in Norway)…ha, it’s about time to get rid of the ‘dutch’ family-car. 😉

I’m not too picky, as long as the specs match the ‘BRC’-standard (uhmm, that would be Big, Reliable, Cheap)! Something like a Volvo 740 from around 1994 orso would be good enough, anything above even better.

So, if you know a good car, lemme know!

WordPress 2.7; installed

Monday, December 15th, 2008

I just upgraded my WordPress blogging tool to v2.7…it took a little bit longer than the famous 5-minute installation (or 3-step upgrade process) tells you, which was mainly due to problems transferring the files to the server (crappy ftp-client 🙁 ).

Anyway, things are running smooth now, and I like what I see so far; indeed a major UI change! Other features have to prove themselves in the coming weeks.

Motörhead in concert

Sunday, December 14th, 2008

I’m going to see Motörhead in concert, tonight in Oslo!! Trust me, it’s gonna be an night filled with good’oll rock, Rock, ROCK ‘N’ ROLL…yeah baby!

Fire kills 6 people in Oslo

Saturday, December 13th, 2008

Yahoo! News: “Six people died and at least 12 were hurt in a fire in an Oslo apartment building Saturday that prompted a tense scramble to rescue residents from windows, firefighters said.”

Damn, I was just some blocks away from that appartment building last night, staying over at a colleagues place after the Julebord/Xmas party…haven’t noticed a thing though. There’s a full report on vg.no (in norwegian).
