I learned today that the proverb phrase ‘the proof is in the pudding’ actually originates from the proverb ‘the proof of the pudding is in the eating’.
The proverb is especially applicable today since I just ordered the domain transfer and hosting package for my .com domain, all with GoDaddy…so, since it turns out that the proof of the pudding is in the eating, it’ll be interesting to see how smooth the migration process will be. Go daddy, satisfy me! 🙂
24h – 48h downtime for website and email is unavoidable, expect it somewhere coming week…the .nl site and email will stay up though!
PS. Obviously I have been using the GoDaddy Promo Code from Adam Curry’sDaily Source Code (dsc2)! It gave me an additional $5,- off the order, yay!
Pity Adam missed my audio comment congratulating him with DSC#700, there was however another 😉 great piece of audio in DSC#703: ‘everyday choices’ by Colin Mutchler, his spoken words start around 6 minutes into the show.
The original lyrics are on Colins ccMixter page, the audio file played in DSC#703 can be found on his Podshow page.
The transcript:
the markets are starting to question themselves
the bloggers exposing our blisters
as the everyday words of everyday people
are shifting the tone of the televised speeches
and the artists are starting to question themselves
and the poets are speaking like leaders
and the everyday choices of everyday people
are facing the storms and curing diseases
so go skype an ipod, premix some wages
but don’t forget to make a version for the sages
because when we look beyond our next meal, our next post,
we are responsible for our everyday votes,
the ones we use to buy our shoes,
to buy our homes, to buy our tunes.
Yes I’m talking about our dollars, our euros, our pesos, our yen.
because what if the next 20 years are happening again?
what if we’ve already arrived…it’s 2025.
and the doomsday duos, the war and peace heroes
haven’t avoided the global cooling, the flu grown zeros
and the forgotten people
Yes the markets are starting to question themselves
and the bloggers exposing our blisters
as the everyday words of everyday people
are shifting the tone of the televised speeches
and the artists are starting to question themselves
and the poets are speaking like leaders
and the everyday choices of everyday people
are facing the storms and curing diseases.
Having friends over and enjoying time off in the holiday season is very nice and relaxing, it does however set me back on listening to podcasts I’m subscribed to…the current unplayed showcount is 47, consisting of:
Today is that one day in a year when we turn the imaginary page of time…page 2007 in the ‘book of life and the world’ has almost been written, all experiences of the past year are in it.
Good to know that they are stored in a safe place, our memories…one can always look back, read and learn.
Writing things down and then turning the page mainly means that things can be put to rest…it’s time to go on and look to the future, something which comes automatically if you start to live your life now, in the present…
TechCrunch: "A Sad Milestone: AOL To Discontinue Netscape Browser Development… …Please observe a moment of silence for the Netscape browser. Netscape Navigator, the browser that launched the commercial Internet in October 1994, will die on February 1, 2008.".
I remember my first browsing steps in 1993 into that new thing called the ‘world wide web’…I was using the Mosaic, a browser developed at the NCSA (National Center for Supercomputing Applications) by a team lead by Marc Andreessen, who is indeed, the co-founder of Netscape Communications. Netscape became the browser of choice, it marks the start of the growing world wide web era.
Browsing in those days was reserved for a limited group of people, which made it something special…Netscape represents that period in my life, it certainly has an emotional value for me.
Microsoft killed the Netscape browser by integrating its own IE browser (yes, the Internet Exploder Explorer) with its operating system. Despite AOL purchasing Netscape Communications in 1998, the browser lost traction…its spin-off Mozilla Firefox even replaced Netscape’s earlier position as #2.
The last best news out of Netscape camp was Jason Calacanis’ effort as Netscape CEO to make it THE social news website of choice. Things seemed to improve and Netscape gained traction as portal…however, after Jason quit AOL last year, it became clear that without his vision, CEO 2.0 leadership and energy the end was near…
I have been ‘dreaming ’bout a white Christmas’ for YEARS…even decided to move to Norway to increase my chances.
So, here we are…the whole world has been white for the last two weeks, we’re good to go…then yesterday temperature rose above zero and we woke up this morning in a green world…aahhhhhh!!!
Anyway, just wanted to say: God Jul, Prettige Kerstdagen & Merry Xmas y’all!!
Yeah, I did get the Xmas vibes today; been playing random Xmas tunes in the office all day, found most of them via seeqpod.com…a great website for mp3-search! 🙂
What better than a hotelroom, roomservice, a laptop, broadband internet and an evening to spare? Hehe, I’ve got the hotelblues…nice to catch up on feedreading!
As mentioned earlier, I cancelled the contract for my .com domain and will migrate to (most likely) GoDaddy. This means I’ve got some work to do to prep things and try to keep downtime as low as possible by the time the domain will be migrated. This will probably be early January, certainly before the 12th, when the current contract expires!
We’ve done a lot of work this weekend, prepping the house for renting out from January. Thanks to everyone helping us out…I love you, I love you, I love you!
We moved out our belongings, painted all walls of the bedrooms and put a laminate floor in the same rooms, making them look absolutely GREAT! It was a nice family job; did it together with my father, brother and brother in law…quite a team!
Just finished cleaning the entire house, we’re good to go!
Since I will work in the dutch office coming week, I decided to uhh ‘violate’ the local IT policy in our norwegian office…just installed Skype again, after de-installing it 1.5 months ago…sorry guys, I just need to be able to have easy access to my non Norwegian co-workers!!!
Cross fingers that the Big Brother IT partner here doesn’t find out! 🙂
A requested and more than welcome change in Facebooks messaging policy:
Somewhere last week they start sending the standard email, notifying you of a new Facebook message INCLUDING the message contents!
Before you only got the notification and had to login to your Facebook account to actually read the message. Now you can see the whole message and only have to login incase you want/need to respond.
Hmm, the next step? Being able to respond to the message by replying directly from the notification email! Guess that won’t happen, since Facebook would loose too many page views that way, or?
