Misha 9 months

Friday, June 29th, 2012

It takes 9 months for new human life to be born, add the same period of 9 months and a new born angel looks something like this:

SO sweet!!
Life goes fast in general for all of us, but for a baby it *really* is a roller coaster; there is something new every day…Misha is in NL at the moment and for him it was today riding the rocking horse! (or rather the rocking moose 😉 )

A reason, a season or a lifetime

Thursday, June 28th, 2012
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bLltt5cPDOc

People come into your life for a reason, a season or a lifetime
When you know which one it is, you will know what to do for that person
When someone is in your life for a REASON
it is usually to meet a need you have expressed
They have come to assist you through a difficulty
to provide you with guidance and support
To aid you physically  emotionally or spiritually
They may seem like a godsend and they are..
They are there for the reason you need them to be
Then without any wrong doing on your part or at an inconvenient time
This person will say or do something to bring the relationship to an end
Sometimes they die Sometimes they walk away
Sometimes they act up and force you to take a stand
What we must realize is that our need has been met  our desire fulfilled
their work is done
The prayer you sent up has been answered and now it is time to move on.
Some people come into your life for a SEASON
because your turn has come to share grow or learn
They bring you an experience of peace or make you laugh
They may teach you something you have never done
They usually give you an unbelievable amount of joy
Believe it, it is real. But only for a season.
LIFETIME relationships teach you lifetime lessons
Things you must build upon in order to have a solid emotional foundation
Your job is to accept the lesson Love the person and put what you have learned
to use in all other relationships and areas of your life
It is said that love is blind but friendship is clairvoyant
Thank you for being a part of my life
Whether you were a reason, a season or a lifetime.

JavaZone 2012: The Java Heist

Friday, June 22nd, 2012

Once again, the Program Committee of JavaZone (Scandinavia’s biggest, and one of Europe’s most important, meeting place / conference for software developers) released a short film: The Java Heist, a great movie for techies (if you are one, you will catch some funny inside jokes).

Haha…what can I say, it is fuckin’ brilliant!! 😉

Check out JavaZone 2012 website for more info on the conference!

To summer or not to summer…

Thursday, June 21st, 2012

You would not believe it when you look outside (at least, in NL), but summer has started today. 3 months of uhhh sun, fun and warm weather, I love it! 😉 Well, let’s hope so…!!

At least the days are longggg, especially in Norway, and especially these days; yesterday, June 20 at  23:09h UTC, was the longest day this year as the sun reached its northernmost position (a.k.a. Solstice). It will be nice to enjoy the long days when I am back in Norway coming week…

Misha’s first tooth/teeth

Wednesday, June 20th, 2012

June 19 marks the day that Misha got his first (milk) tooth, or better said; *teeth* as two teeth ‘came through’ at the same time! (Tooth fairy get ready! 😉 )

A next phase, shortly following his first crawling moves (June 6)…big steps for the big little angel these days!

2500 blogposts!

Monday, June 18th, 2012

This blogpost marks my 2500th post…wow!!

The road to #2500 took more than 7 years, my first post was 2685 days ago, on February 10 2005. It took 1219 days to reach the first milestone; I published post #1000 on June 13 2008 and the next 1000 posts took a lot less, ‘just’ 989 days (blogpost #2000 on February 27th, 2011). A lot faster than the first 1000 mainly caused as I started a daily blogging routine on June 12 2007.

And the pace is increasing even more, since I recently started a true daily Quote of the Day (QOTD)…post 3000 should therefore come somewhere around April 4 2013…I uhhh, keep you posted! 😉

Father’s Day and the NL-POR match

Sunday, June 17th, 2012

Today is my first Father’s Day and Misha gave me a lovely poem…SO sweet!!!

The other BIG event today is obviously the last group match in the Euro2012…NL *has to* win with 2 goals difference against Portugal (AND Germany has to beat Denmark)…it requires a miracle, and that is what Misha and I go for!!

Hmmm, I *love* an orange Tompouce!!

Key Keeper

Saturday, June 16th, 2012

It is the burden of being in NL while living abroad; a *heavy* left pocket caused by a key ring full of keys. Four house keys (various houses, not all mine though), three car keys and some small random keys…ha, I guess you can call me the Key Keeper! 😉

Happy Birthday Mom

Friday, June 15th, 2012

My mother turns 63 today and honestly; what better present can one living abroad give than to *be* there, at her Birthday party, *with* her grandson! 😉

Happy Birthday (grand)ma!! (looking forward to the cake!)

Apple’s WWDC 2012

Monday, June 11th, 2012

Whenever Apple has something to announce, it seems that the world is standing still to see what the Cupertino trendsetter and market disruptor has to say, especially in the recent years. Today is no different, as Apple’s Tom Cook gave a keynote speech to open its yearly Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).

New goodies announced today:

New MacBook Pro with Retina Display, watch the video; they did it again…iWant! 😉

– a hefty update of the MacBook Air and Pro specs (still happy with mine)

– Mac OS X Mountain Lion, coming in July. Not sure if this update is for me, although it has some nice things (iCloud integration, Messages app bringing iMessage to the Mac, AirPlay Mirroring allowing to stream of what’s on your Mac to an HDTV, and more…)

iOS 6 preview, coming this fall with Facebook integration, new Maps app including turn-by-turn navigation, Shared Photo Streams, the Passbook app, FaceTime over cellular networks (!), VIP Mailboxes, nice options to handle an incoming call, and more…your iPhone is gonna be better than it already was!

For geeks: you can find the keynote speech here!

Next in line coming from Apple; the rumored AppleTV (iTV?) and the iPhone 5…announcements expected in September.

Misha – Hup Holland

Great Tits in da house!

Wednesday, June 6th, 2012

Yay!! My ‘build a tree and get a Great Tit for free‘ program worked; the Great Tit not only found its way ‘home’ to the bird house, it also laid its eggs, and…got some young Tits!! It is quite active around the bird house, the young ones are getting fed, are learning to fly, *so* nice to see…nature is beautiful!

Find the Great Tit:

…*there* it is!!

Transit of Venus 2012

Tuesday, June 5th, 2012

Tonight/tomorrow an important and historic event takes place: the last transit of Venus that anyone living on this planet today can expect to watch…!
Due its rarity and its importance for science in history this transit will be one of the most important celestial events of the 21st century. It starts tonight (June 5) at 22:09h UTC, and will finish at 04:49h UTC tomorrow (June 6). The previous transit has been in June 2004, and the next pair of transits will not occur until December 2117 and December 2125!

Weather is unfortunately not cooperating for the majority of people in Europe as predictions show it will be cloudy 🙁 , you can still follow it via livestreams on various websites.

Read more about this phenomenon on transitofvenus.org.

Parkfeest recap

Sunday, June 3rd, 2012

Well, well, what a weekend this was!

The Parkfeest was a great opening of the festival season; good bands, better weather than predicted and a relaxed atmosphere created together with some fantastic people!

It was great to see Racoon last Friday, as well as De Dijk yesterday (playing ‘Groot Hart‘ as their last song…shiverssss!) and I enjoyed a sweet desert today; Chef’Special!

Superb weekend, I love it!

Parkfeest Day 2

Saturday, June 2nd, 2012

We’re about to dive into another night filled with good music, a beer or two and great company!

Main acts for tonight; Paris DandiesAcna en de Munnik and of course De Dijk!! It has been quite a while since I saw them live on stage which has always been great, they are a fantastic live act and always able to create a great atmosphere among the crowd…I *really* hope that they will play ‘Groot Hart‘, *my* song!! Afterparty in one (or more) of many bars in Oosterhout, and I already lost my voice…ha, it is gonna be a good night!! 😉

Parkfeest 2012

Friday, June 1st, 2012

Festival season starts this weekend for me as I am going to the ‘Parkfeest‘! A lot of (smaller) bands will perform, I am really looking forward to see Racoon tonight, De Dijk tomorrow and Chef’Special on Sunday!

Oof, I actually barely made it for the start of the festivities today; I missed the first option to fly to NL this morning because the ground staff messed up (their system being down didn’t help too 🙁 ). Luckily I got a seat, the very last one, on the afternoon flight and will be ‘just in time’ to see ‘Miss Montreal‘ kicking off the festival…joy! It’s gonna be good, it already is!! 😉
