I stopped eating meat early January this year which was really easy and it feels good, for ME. My main reason was that I realized that meat is the easy, unconscious, choice for a meal, inherited from the stone age where mankind had no choice; you hunt and kill an animal, eat it or…you die of starvation.
And perhaps even more important; times have changed and nowadays meat production is an industry almost like any other (few exceptions), caring more for return on investment, stuffing animals with growth hormones and antibiotics to make the operation more profitable, and almost no interest/attention for the animals or quality of the meat, nor for what is best for the ‘consumer’, us all.
Everyone has their free choice and yes, everyone should do what feels best for YOU, just consider what you are *really* eating and perhaps try one day a week without meat (as a start 😉 )…
I flew back to Norway today, ‘alone-together’ with Misha…we have a special week coming up as this will be my first father-son week; a whole week quality time between daddy and son, yayyy!
It is one of the great things about living in Norway; as a father I get many, many week off (paid! 😉 ) to spend time with my son…I love it!!
The flight home was *good*, I said it before; this kid is made for flying! 😉
Sleeping, flirting with the stewardesses, eating, and waking everybody up during landing…uh-uhh…
I personally prefer truth over lies (though that ain’t always easy), yet I realize that not all people (are able to) prevail the Truth…well, perhaps the Lie Detector as seen below could help them…hahaha, quite funny!
‘They’ say that time flies, and that this is especially so with babies: Misha turned half a year today, can you believe that?? Checkout his 0 – 6 months in the two photos below, he has grown so big already!
The little angel’s half year anniversary is *exactly* 26 weeks which makes it extra special…182 days (and nights 😉 ), amazing how time flies!
Speaking of flying; I will fly to NL tomorrow for the weekend…looking forward for quality cuddling time!! 😉
Simon Tofield has created some fantastic cartoons for cat lovers, and having three cats I can confirm; the animations are spot on…Simon appeared from 2008 and shows up in a couple of new cartoons every year. Find them all on simonscat.com or Simon’s Cat YouTube channel!
BBC.co.uk: “Vibrating magnetic tattoos may one day be used to alert mobile phone users to phone calls and text messages if Nokia follows up a patent application. The Finnish company has described the idea in a filing to the US Patent and Trademark Office. It describes tattooing, stamping or spraying “ferromagnetic” material onto a user’s skin and then pairing it with a mobile device.”
The patent application suggests that a magnetic marking could be attached to a user’s arm, abdominal area, finger or fingernail…well uhhh, or perhaps somewhere else?!? This brings the touch revolution in today’s smartphones to a whole new level… 😉
It is just a lovely thing to do on a lazy Sunday afternoon; putting the sofa, chairs and table on the veranda and be able to *really* enjoy the sun! Yessss, Veranda Season 2012 is now officially open, may it be a long and warm season! 😉
Another seasonal thing; I saw some birds finding their way to the bird nests / bird houses at the side of the house today, such a nice thing! And these were not just ‘some’ birds…no, no, no, these are the ‘Parus major’ (in Latin) or ‘Koolmees’ (in dutch)…in other words; the ‘Great Tit’ found its way home!
Today marked the first day of spring 2012!…despite what we have been told to believe, spring does ‘normally’ not start on March 21, that happy fact only occurs 1/3 of the years!
I have been driving from NL to Brussels for a meeting today, and as I didn’t have my sunglasses with me I now have a terrible headache, from staring in the bright sun…yes, spring really started, yayyyy!! I’ll fly back to Norway tomorrow and look forward for a sunny spring weekend!! (fingers crossed 😉 )
The present is not the result of the past…and the future is not the result of the present…all things exist NOW and the present changes past and future…be ready for some heavy stuff! (only a 4 minute clip though! 😉 )
Come and prepare to take the 13th step, a step into the multidimensional reality and realization that we are multidimensional beings, ever shifting, ever changing: ‘Whatever past you want is what you get…whatever future you want is what you get…with *that* person you are being right now!’
your Power is in the NOW, the Power is in your NOW (and your past, and your future)!
It is each time amazing to see how Misha changes in a short time…I haven’t seen him for little over a week time, and man did he GROW! Great to be with him this weekend, and interestingly enough he apparently developed ‘typical’ male behavior; he woke me up just in time for the start of the Formula 1 race in Australia this morning, which he also liked to watch!
TGIF y’all!! Man, do I look forward to this weekend; I will fly to NL tomorrow and be able to hold my little angel after a week without cuddling, yayyy!
Here’s a blonde joke for you to lighten up the moment (no worries, a blonde sent it to me so all should be fine! 😉 )…as usual, click to enlarge.
Anyone who missed last Saturday’s ‘Phoney KONY 2012…a SCAM!‘ post (or if you didn’t take 20 minutes to watch the YouTube clip in the post), check out the ‘Yes We KONY! (Kony Parody)‘ clip below…the same message in only 3m37s! 😉
Just in case anyone ‘forgot’ about it (here you go guys, uhh sorry girls 😉 ): it is Steak & Blow Job Day today! A holiday celebrated every year on March 14, indeed one month after Valentine’s Day, for a reason.
Uncyclopedia: “The idea is simple; there are no cards, flowers, candy or other overpriced fluff. Partners need only to bestow their man with a steak and a blow job. But not necessarily in that order. And not necessarily only once that day. And it doesn’t even have to be them who does it.”
I love the Ghandi quote: “If only there were more Steaks and Blow Jobs in the world, we would have no War…” (~ Ghandhi on Steak & Blow Job day, before he turned vegetarian.) 😉
This will unfortunately not be ‘my’ day of days though: I don’t eat meat, and am ‘home alone’ this week…what a missed opportunity!! 🙁
Oh, and for all you girls out there: don’t get too upset, your turn comes soon enough: April 14 is Cake and Cunnilingus Day! 😉
Weather this weekend has been super, the sun really showed its best side (melting last Thursday’s snow), and I decided to connect with nature. Two great hikes through winter wonderland in spring-like weather, all ‘in my backyard’, I love it!!
A pretty controversial title for this blogpost, but I felt it needed to be like this. In the past days I have seen the KONY 2012 video shared on Facebook by of my FB friends, most of them probably watched the video and shared it, without hesitation or any fact-checking…the clip is going viral with as of today, over 67 MILLION views on YouTube (I wonder if all those people really watch the full 30 minutes…).
Don’t take me wrong, I do support the core cause; anyone, and in this case Joseph Kony, who is capturing children and turn them into weapons for war, has to be found, captured and be held responsible for crimes committed.
I however do NOT believe that the KONY 2012 ‘movement’ is set up for all the right reasons and I would encourage everyone to find the message behind what that is really being put out by the media (heavily supported by Facebook).
A perfect start for this would be the following YouTube clip, which is an audio recording of last Thursday’s No Agenda podcast #389 with my good friend Adam Curry and John C. Dvorak (hero’s in deconstructing the REAL news behind the news! 😉 )
Honestly, if you used 30 minutes on the KONY 2012 video, you need to take another 20 minutes for this one, it is worth it!

For more supporting information and links, the ones shown in the video, go to the No Agenda #389 show notes, click on ‘Shownotes’ at the top and scroll down to KONY.
All in all, it turns out that the real reason why this cause is getting the attention of so many, is OIL (ain’t it always the oil!).
The oil found in Uganda in the recent years makes it viable for the U.S. to fulfill a long-held wish of establishing presence in Africa (AFRICOM, the U.S. Africa Military Command). Uganda, and Joseph Kony, provides the perfect opportunity (also check out this report). Does anyone see the resemblance with Hussein/Iraq and Gaddafi/Libya??
Interestingly enough, Joseph Kony is presumably not even *in* Uganda anymore, as he is supposed to be hiding in D.R. Congo.
Oh, and as for the Invisible Children Inc. organization: if you love numbers, check their 2011 tax form and follow where the money comes from and goes to…
Lastly, I sincerely hope that Joseph Kony (if he is alive still, no one has heard or seen him for many years) will be found and prosecuted.

PS. Who came up with the idea to have the ‘KONY 2012 Day’ on April 20 (=4/20…420, IN your face, wtf!)
For years I have thought about doing something more with my life, something more than ‘just’ work and enjoy the relatively easy life in Western Europe, physically contributing to a better world by DOING something rather than supporting from a distance.
In January I decided that 2012 would be the year to put action to words and thoughts, and so it will be: I am going to Mozambique from May 11-20!! Together with a team of twelve I will participate in the Habitat for Humanity Global Village program, building housing for orphans and their caretakers in the Gaza province in Mozambique!
There is still lot to arrange, but I am THRILLED about this and can’t wait to go…obviously you can expect updates here on the blog (as well as on the team page).
Well, well, Apple still had a surprise in its sleeve today; ‘everyone’ knew that the company would release a new iPad today, and most of the specs where ‘guessed’ (=leaked) correct.
The one thing that no one had correct was the name; iPad 3 sounded most logical as the successor of last years iPad 2, iPad HD was a possibility because of the high resolution display (‘Resolutionary’ as Apple calls it), but no, the name of Apple’s latest and greatest iPad is simply: ‘The new iPad‘…uhhh, HUH?!?
Specs for the device make it another iWant! 😉 :
Retina display with 2048 x 1536 resolution (the best display ever on a mobile device)
Dual-core CPU, Quad-core graphics…so it is FAST!
iSight (HD) front camera and 5MP rear camera
Voice dictation
support for 4G/LTE (HSPA+) networks, 73 Mbps (!) max
Besides everything iPad / ‘The new iPad’, Apple also announced a new AppleTV and iOS 5.1…enough goodies for one day! 😉
