Word of the Year: ‘Twitteren’

During the Onze Taal (’Our Language’) congress in Utrecht, the word ‘twitteren’ was elected Word of the Year 2009 in The Netherlands. The word means ‘to twitter’, a trend that has gone completely mainstream in 2009.

I first tweeted on July 6 2009: ‘Just subscribed to Twitter…couldn’t hold off any longer 🙂‘
