How stubborn can one be? ROTFLMAO! 🙂

(perhaps the AHRQ can make use of Apple’s ResearchKit as announced yesterday! 🙂 )

Apple “Spring Forward” Event

Monday, March 9th, 2015

Apple had its “Spring Forward” event today, and it has been THE event many looked forward to in order to learn more about the upcoming Apple Watch, Apple’s new (fifth) branch to the their family tree (next to Mac, MacBook, iPad, iPhone). Tim Cook on stage (Steve, you are missed!) had some more interesting products in his sleeve though, so next to a lot of self promotion and ‘oh gosh we are good’, there was a lot to cover:

– Apple TV: is exclusively supporting the new standalone streaming service HBO Now with access to a LOT of movies and series (including Game of Thrones) for $14,99/m. Also the price for the Apple TV change to just $69. Tim repeatedly mentioned that ‘this is just the beginning’, so expect more to come! 🙂

– ResearchKit: is a revolutional method to allow people to participate in medical research through their iPhone a game changer for medical research. The first five tests are built in, available from today, are to contribute in research done for: Parkinson’s, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, asthma, and breast cancer. I am not sure what to think of this, despite the disclaimer that Apple will not see your data, who knows on what corners data flows…ResearchKit is Open Source which at least shows that Apple is serious in contributing to Medical Research by allowing many parties in.

– MacBook: a new reinvented laptop with a 12″ Retina display, a separate product line next to the MacBook Air and MacBook Pro. The thinnest (13.1mm at most) and lightest (900 grams) laptop of all with new keyboard, super thin display, Force Track trackpad, a fanless design, a 67% smaller logic board (allowing more batteries on board to give it an ‘all day’ battery life) and, only one (!) connector (the new USB-C standard, supporting HDMI, DisplayPort, VGA, power and more). All in all pretty awesome and available from April 10. (oh, and it comes in three colors; Silver, Space Gray, and Gold 🙂 )

– Apple Watch; last but definitely not least, more information on the upcoming Apple Watch, the ‘most personal device ever’. Well, I could say much about it, but you really should see it to understand that this very well may be a game changer for many. Despite the fact that I am not a watch person, it IS an amazing product which will allow you to use your phone (iPhone) less (and in the process avoid being dragged into the overwhelming world of the ‘internet in your pocket’ that the iPhone truly is…not a bad thing actually). I caught myself actually considering an Apple Watch…damn you Apple, how the hell do you do it, creating a need? Amazing! 🙂

For the real geeks, go watch the full  Keynote speech here!

The attention test

Friday, March 6th, 2015

This commercial subtly tests the viewers attention, be ready for a surprise after you watched it! A pretty cool way to pass on a (commercial) message, well done Škoda! 🙂

Rubik’s Cube, blind folded

Monday, March 2nd, 2015

Solving Rubik’s Cube is one thing (and not everyone will succeed), but doing it blind-folded…in just over 21 seconds??? WTF!! Crrraaaaazzyyyy!

Misha’s first cross-country ski trip

Friday, February 27th, 2015

It has been quite a hectic week and only now did I find the time to go through the zillion of pictures I took last weekend in Hafjell, where Misha and I enjoyed a ski-weekend with friends in the Norwegian mountains!

It was his first time on real cross-country skis though one wouldn’t tell; he did an impressive 2.5km (all by himself) on his first day and a whopping 4km on the second day, mannnn did he like to ski, he could not get enough of it!!

Weather has been way better than forecasted which made the weekend even better than it already was, being with friends is a bliss and when I see Misha enjoying himself sooo much, well…that makes me a more than happy daddy! 🙂

4000 blogposts!

Wednesday, February 25th, 2015

*This* post is my 4000th blogpost, wow!

It took me just over 10 year (3667 days) as I posted my first blogpost on February 10 2005 (a simple check if my blogging tool at that time, Pivot, was working) and the pace has been increasing year over year. For the statisticians; blogpost #1000 took me 1219 days (post #1000 on June 13 2008), the next 1000 posts took 989 days (post #2000 on February 27th 2011), from #2000 to #3000 took only 771 days (post #3000 on April 8 2013) and the last 1000 took just 688 days, nifty! 🙂

It has become quite a valuable asset to me; going back through the archives brings back many many great moments of my life, so I don’t intend to stop anytime soon! Expect blogpost #5000 somewhere around New Year 2016/2017! Ha, I uhhh keep you posted! 🙂

Carnival 2015

Saturday, February 14th, 2015

Well, well, it is that time of year again; Carnival, so 5 days/nights of party ’til you drop! A fantastic new outfit yesterday (indians, ughh) and tonight once again as a random bunch of gold diggers and gladiators! Heaps of fun as always, and…still four nights to go woohoooo!! 🙂

Birthday party in da snow

Saturday, February 7th, 2015

When your girl is celebrating her Birthday and invites friend to Norway for the party, I should have been aware of the ‘consequences’; they made an outside bar, in the snow, brought enough liquor to fill an elephant, or two, Armin van Buuren is playing his (summer) Ushuaia Ibaza set out loud (neighbors are virtually not here 🙂 )…all in all heaps of fun and dancing till we drop! Woohooooooo!!

Smile of the Day: Why people run

Thursday, February 5th, 2015

You might be a fanatic runner…or not 🙂 …well, in case you are; have you ever considered that the real (unconscious) reason that you are running is related to the country you live in?

Seems far fetched, but check out the picture below…tadaaaa! LoL 🙂

Earth from outer space

Wednesday, February 4th, 2015

Very few have the opportunity to look at the Earth from space, but man, wouldn’t everyone LOVE to do that after seeing this YouTube video?

The time-lapse, made by European Space Agency astronaut Alexander Gerst, shows stunning views of the Earth, sunrises, clouds, lightning, auroras, stars, and the International Space Station.

The 12,500 images, stitched together to create this video, are captured during his six-month stay on the International Space Station (which orbits ‘only’ 400 kilometers above the surface of the Earth).

One word: BE-AU-TI-FUL!

Travel into space might very well be an option during my lifetime (commercialized through Elon Musk’s SpaceX?!) so who knows, I and many more might have the opportunity to enjoy the same views one day!

Downhill skiing

Thursday, January 22nd, 2015

Winter finally hit home for real! After some half serious attempts late last year and some weeks ago, it seems the snow from the past days is here to stay for the months to come, yayyy! 🙂 Despite the ‘loss’ of a great deal of my ‘free’ time to snow plowing and no reception on the satellite TV (not watching much anyway), this means skiing season is about to begin, w00t!

I will be doing a lot more downhill skiing compared to last year (eeeeaasy as I didn’t do any downhill skiing at all last year!!?!), and wanna learn some new tricks on the slopes. The YouTube video below shows where I want (expect? 🙂 ) my skiing skills to be at the end of this season, uhhhhh?!

WTF, seriously? Candide Thovex is having ‘one of those days’ again…fan-friggin-amazing and a must watch for skiing enthusiasts! 🙂

(he did have ‘one of those days’ before, check it out here!)

Counting to 10, Microsoft style :)

Wednesday, January 21st, 2015

Microsoft had its ‘Windows 10’ event today (nothing to report there LoL), which made me think of the numbering of their OS versions…ha, counting from 1 to 10 by Bill Gates! ROTFLMAO

Blue Monday?!

Monday, January 19th, 2015

So, today is (/was) Blue Monday; the day which is declared to be the most depressing day of the year…apparently. 🙂

Not sure if you ‘felt’ any of it, but since there is an official formula to ‘proof’ its existence, I guess it ‘must’ be true. LoL

Just so you know, Blue Monday is calculated (pseudoscience though) according to the following formula:

frac{[W + D-d] T^Q}{M N_a}

W = weather, d=debt, T=time since Christmas, Q=time since failing our new year’s resolutions, M=low motivational levels, Na=the feeling of a need to take action and ’D’ is not defined.

If you have been hit by an instant depression, you can counter it through bluemonday.org; a nice alternative to make someone happy on this day and un-Blue yourself in the process, ha! 🙂

Clogged toilet?!

Monday, January 12th, 2015

Obviously no one ever suffers from a clogged toilet (especially not after a ‘longer than usual visit’ bluhhh 🙂 ), but just in case your toilet does clog up one day do try the following method! LoL

Carrot Creativity

Friday, January 2nd, 2015

As I have played clarinet for many many years (still own one, though my play is a bit rusty 🙂 ), I am pretty familiar with the complexity of the instrument, Linsey Pollak’s creativity is making it an extremely simple instrument though, an eyeopener!

He defines creativity as the putting together of two previously unrelated things and creating something new. Well, watch what he does with a carrot and saxophone mouth piece…he got me stunned, amazing!!!

Happy 2015!

Thursday, January 1st, 2015

Happy New Year y’all!

I wonder what opportunities I will encounter in 2015. For sure it is going to be another year of filled with exploring, learning, occasional lows and many highs, overall *experiencing* and getting to know myself and my role in this experiment called Earth and humanity!

For starters, this January 1st has been really slow so far (after an intense and loonnng night partying and dancing my ass off with friends at Metz NYE in Rotterdam 🙂 ), though I am pretty sure the rollercoaster ride will start soon enough so, let’s get started! 🙂

Oh, as I am no guy for New Years resolutions you will not find them here. 🙂 I believe more in New Day resolutions…in the end, January 1 is ‘just’ another new day, ah? (especially when you consider that half the world population (China and India) celebrate New Year on a different date!)

Turning the page of time

Wednesday, December 31st, 2014

Today is that unique and special day in the year when one day makes a whole year difference; we turn the imaginary page of time tonight and after celebrating it we wake up in a brand New Year. By then, page 2014 of the ‘book of life and the world’ has been completely written, and we have stored all experiences of the past year in it.

The year of 2014 has been a year with many ‘firsts’; I established my own company, saw the Northern Light, made trips to London, Ibiza, Mallorca and Macedonia (though the last one was mainly work related), enjoyed a splendid summer in Norway, Misha turned three and the big little boy now experiences the next phase in kindergarten/pre-school (in the group of 3-6 year old)…it has all in all been a fantastic year, and as always, a continuous process of letting go of past and getting to know the present and future possibilities…highs and lows are all balanced in the end.

It is good to know that all the 2014 experiences are stored in a safe place; in my heart and my memory…I can look back, laugh, cry, read, learn, and all of that without any regrets!

Writing things down and then turning the page of time also means that things can be put to rest…it is a good moment to go on and look forwards towards everything that future offers, 2015 here I am, woohoo!!

Time…it is o-so relative…I wish everyone a splendid life in the Now, filling each moment with unconditional love, sharing it and passing it on…

Steamy windows

Tuesday, December 30th, 2014

Here is a really useful trick just before the year ends; how to avoid steamy windows! It is a trick that can really come in handy, though there is, in ‘certain’ circumstances, a kind of romance to having your windows steaming up… 🙂

God Jul / Merry Christmas / Zalig Kerstfeest
