12-12-12

Wednesday, December 12th, 2012

Today is 12.12.12, the last day of this century when the day, month and year are the same, nice…AND there is more to the number 12 (let alone three times 12 😉 ):

Simion the Evolutionary Collective: “12 is a number of universal import, widely used; 12 hours of the day, 12 months of the year, 12 in a dozen, 12 zodiac signs, 12 apostles, and 12 days of Christmas, for example.  This is not a coincidence, nor are they about convenience.

Within the 12 you find the number 3; the sacred trinity, third chakra, and number of creation.  It is universal that when you put two things, ideas, or what have you, together, a third is naturally created (a typical example of 1+1=3! 😉 ).

Today (as well as 21.12.12 coming up in 9 days) there are three threes which equals 9; the creational value is tripled and the result is the completion of a cycle, which is a meaning inherent in the number 9.  From this we can plainly see the vibrations at play of creation and completion, in the cycle of development.

The two dates, 12.12.12 and 21.12.12 are divinely linked.  The 12.12.12 is the gateway to what will transpire on 21.12.12.  Thus, the gateway that you align with on the first date will determine what world you see when the gate opens on the following date.  Are we saying it is important what you are doing and being on these dates?  Yes, and particularly where you are and what you are focused upon on 12.12.12 will be significant.  Needless to say, what you will be focused on will likely be determined by all you have done in preparation during this year 2012 and leading up to it.”

Soon I will be able to reveal what *I* have been up to today, and why the above is spot on and makes PERFECT sense!!

And for those of you who think the above is ‘too much’, today also happens to be National Sound Check Day!! 😉

Steve Jobs: Secrets of Life

Tuesday, December 11th, 2012

Steve Jobs: “When you grow up you tend to get told the world is the way it is and you’re life is just to live your life inside the world. Try not to bash into the walls too much. Try to have a nice family, have fun, save a little money. That’s a very limited life. Life can be much broader once you discover one simple fact: Everything around you that you call life was made up by people that were no smarter than you and you can change it, you can influence it, you can build your own things that other people can use……..Once you learn that, you’ll never be the same again.”

Interesting and amazing that this video ‘came to me’ just some days ago…Steve is O-SO right!!!

This clip is part of the 60-minute film ‘Visionary Entrepreneur’, available as a video download at: http://www.SteveJobsSecretsofLife.org.

A little snow here and there

Friday, December 7th, 2012

The loads of snow that I expected upon my arrival in NL today is mostly gone (if it was here at all in the first place 😉 ), so nature restored itself; Norway has more snow than NL and that is how it is supposed to be! 😉

The good thing for the Dutch is that no one here has to be afraid that they experience the following:

Hilarious! 😉

Sinterklaas in the office

Wednesday, December 5th, 2012

It is virtually impossible, but Sinterklaas made it to Norway today, wow!! He passed by the office this afternoon, left some treats and then disappeared without being seen…typically him! 😉

Haha, me and my colleagues had a ball:

Radi-Aid: Africa for Norway

Tuesday, December 4th, 2012

This video has been circulating on the web for some weeks now, and since it is REALLY cold at the moment, it was the right time to post it! 😉

Radi-Aid’s Africa for Norway, you too can donate your radiator and spread some warmth! (or buy the song on iTunes http://bit.ly/Ubik4A)

And yes, of course this is parody, yet it is pointing at something important:
“Imagine if every person in Africa saw the “Africa for Norway” video and this was the only information they ever got about Norway. What would they think about Norway?

If we say Africa, what do you think about? Hunger, poverty, crime or AIDS? No wonder, because in fundraising campaigns and media that’s mainly what you hear about.

The pictures we usually see in fundraisers are of poor African children. Hunger and poverty is ugly, and it calls for action. But while these images can engage people in the short term, we are concerned that many people simply give up because it seems like nothing is getting better. Africa should not just be something that people either give to, or give up on.

The truth is that there are many positive developments in African countries, and we want these to become known. We need to change the simplistic explanations of problems in Africa. We need to educate ourselves on the complex issues and get more focus on how western countries have a negative impact on Africa’s development. If we want to address the problems the world is facing we need to do it based on knowledge and respect.”

Road Rage

Monday, December 3rd, 2012

People can get pretty frustrated ‘on da road’ (especially these days it seems), in the YouTube clip below you will see what can happen if you are not very social (and ‘meet’ another not so social driver)…things can get pretty wet!! 😉

Misha and Sinterklaas 2012

Saturday, December 1st, 2012

It is soon Sinterklaas (December 5) and instead of the yearly presents feast with my parents, brother and sister, we decided to have an alternative celebration/family gathering; a day in the ‘Park of Sint‘ in the Ouwehands Zoo Rhenen.

I don’t expect Misha to understand the concept of Sinterklaas and his Black Petes (most foreigners don’t understand it actually 😉 ), still he enjoyed himself, was not scared of Black Pete, and seemed to love all animals!

Misha 14 months

Thursday, November 29th, 2012

Misha turned 14 months today; quite a different experience while he is in NL, I actually realized today that it is the first time since June that he is not with me on this ‘milestone’ day…Luckily I regularly receive photos and movie clips of him, and it is great to see his latest moves and overall happiness! 😉

I can’t wait to see him again this Saturday; ‘Sinterklaas day’ in NL with my parents, brother, sister and all five kids, looking forward!!

Rome!

Friday, November 23rd, 2012

Wow, what started as a crazy idea is now reality; I am in Rome this weekend, my first time (not counting a training for work many years ago, stuck in a hotel outside the city and no time for sightseeing)…I am soooo looking forward!! I wonder how much I recognise from the city based on the Da Vince Code, meeting with the pope is scheduled for Sunday around 13h. 😉

Weather is supposed to be dry, sunny and close to 20C, lovely, it’s gonna be great!

Just leave a comment if you know a nice restaurant, bar, club, a must see, must do and don’t…all are more than are welcome! 😉

Something positive from security cameras!

Tuesday, November 20th, 2012

I am not a big fan of CCTV/security cameras, but sometimes they capture something totally different and show us that the world is actually a much better place than you might think (at least, when you follow mainstream news… 😉 ).

Be positive, y’all!! 😉

World Toilet Day

Monday, November 19th, 2012

It is World Toilet Day today, an international day of action that aims to break the taboo around toilets and draw attention to the global sanitation challenge. (in 2001, World Toilet Organization declared its founding day, 19 November, as World Toilet Day)

This directly brings me back to May this year; my Global Village trip for Habitat for Humanity! A part of Habitat’s building homes program is besides building homes, also to deliver decent pit latrines (you can see one below), conveniently located, and dignified they help to reduce diseases! We didn’t build the toilet ourselves, but I did use one! 😉

Can you imagine not having a toilet? Can you imagine not having privacy when you need to relieve yourself? Although unthinkable for ‘us’ living in wealthy parts of the world, this is a harsh reality for many – in fact, one in three people on this globe, does not have access to a toilet! Have you ever thought about the true meaning of dignity? (not to mention hygiene…..)

Support the cause by following WTD on twitter (@worldtoiletday) and tell the world why you ‘give a shit’ using #IGiveAShit ! 😉

Permanent residency in Norway

Sunday, November 18th, 2012

After being 5 years in Norway it was time to extend my residence permit. While the process took a couple of months in 2007, it took just a week this time! And, since I apparently have been a good resident, I was given permanent residency in Norway, nice!! (ha, the police must have forgotten about me crashing into one of their cars last year 😉 )

Norenhater / Norwegianhater

Friday, November 16th, 2012

Especially when you love Norway and want to understand the deep relation between the dutch and Norwegians, you should watch this YouTube video; a brilliant sketch by the infamous dutch comedy series ‘Jiskefet‘.

I am not sure what kind of people would hate Norwegians, but hey, anything is possible in comedy?! 😉

Being Viking, or Norwegian?!

Tuesday, November 13th, 2012

Well, I am not bragging since I am not a Norwegian, but I do enjoy living among them…a pretty proud bunch of people! 😉

The strip above is the well-known Hägar the Horrible, a strip that is a caricature and loose interpretation of medieval Scandinavian life, set in an unnamed coastal village somewhere in Norway. Quite funny. 😉

Beatbox chick(en)

Sunday, November 11th, 2012

It is pretty amazing what people can do with their voice and beatboxing is a great way to show it; this girl is mixing chicken sounds in a freestyle beatboxing performance, amazing!

I blogged some other great beatboxing performances before, check them out here and here, spectacular!!

Byebye traffic jams! ;)

Thursday, November 8th, 2012

I *love* driving my LEAF, especially when I am heading back home to pick up Misha from kindergarten; half of Norway is on the road at the same time (between 15:00h and 17:00h), but driving an electric car in Norway comes with a fantastic benefit…I can use the taxi/buss lane!

Watch the video below to understand why I am laughing so much these days!  😉

Movember

Wednesday, November 7th, 2012

You might have seen men around you who out of the blue are growing a moustache…you wonder why? Well, wonder no more for it is Movember! An annual, month-long event involving the growing of moustaches during the month of November to raise awareness of prostate cancer and other men’s health issues. Movember moustaches were first grown in Australia back in 2003 and since that time word of Movember and its men’s health messages have spread across the globe.
Below you will find a TED talk by the creator of Movember, interesting and funny!

So…are you in??

IMDB Top 250 (in 2.5 minutes)

Monday, November 5th, 2012

Do you love your movies as much as I do? Then I know that you too use IMDB.com to look-up plot and cast information as well as movie reviews…and if the movie doesn’t score high enough you will think twice before watching it (unless it is a cult film, in that case you’re just gonna watch it anyway and be pleasantly, or unpleasantly surprised… 😉 ).

The YouTube clip below shows the IMDB Top 250, only movies with a IMDB score of 8/10 or higher…how many do you recognize?? A fantastic clip tune too…I love it!

A wooden back?

Sunday, November 4th, 2012

My timing for arranging wood to heat up the fireplaces kinda sucks; it is already November and I have just wood enough for a week or two; by far not enough to keep me warm this winter, aahhhh!! Luckily I have friends who are much better in wood-planning; they just cut wood to dry for winter uhh 2014!! 😉

We found a perfect win-win; I would help out with their wood ‘farm’ 😉 and then get wood in return, nice! Perfect plan, if only my back wouldn’t go bad; great timing to wake up with terrible back pain on ‘wood’ day, not!! That was yesterday and I did help out with the wood (will power, or stubborn? 😉 ), so there are many (big, uncut) wood logs in the back of the car but not a chance I can take ‘m out with this back pain…interestingly enough, all movements a daddy needs to make to take care of his son are no problem?!? Nature is an amazing thing… 😉

Hallowe’en

Wednesday, October 31st, 2012

It’s Halloween today, so:

Trick or treat, smell my feet
give me something good to eat
if you don’t, I don’t care
I’ll pull down your underwear!
